The story of Sophronia comes with a delightful twist.
I imagine there’ll be several approaches to this tale of sensible abandonment and regeneration that I will not be able to resist, but my initial responses have been to integrate the playful side of the city with the practical.
Right now I am switching between, pen ink and digital tools to develop this. The image above started life as a pencil sketch and went into Affinity Designer to work on the distribution of colours and tones.
When I’m happy with the composition I’ll be working on a reduction linocut of this, hopefully at a larger scale than I usually work.
