Description
This item is now sold – number 3 of 9 is now available.
This is a limited edition reduction colour woodcut print I created as part of my Invisible Cities series – prints, paintings, sketches and designs inspired by or resonant of the stories created in the novel by Italo Calvino.
Sophronia is a city of two halves, a city of permanence and gravity alongside an ephemeral and frivolous one. Periodically one half of the city packs up and moves on. This image considers Sophronia as a whole, and the relative values placed on different concerns among its citizens.
Originally conceived as digital artwork with very crisp lines, this woodcut version is irregular and not square, with smudges and overprinted areas bringing more life to the contrasting colours. See the product detail images.
This is also a ‘variable edition’, where each print has slight variations in design or impression. As such each is sold individually and the item pictured (edition number 1 of 9 here) is the item for sale.
The print is despatched rolled into a protective cardboard tube, and delivery is included.
